In August 2024, I completed the post-professional educational leadership certificate program at William & Mary's School of Education.
The program allowed me to study public school law, finance, administration, building management, and organizational structures. The comprehensive residency provided authentic experiences in elementary, middle, and high school classrooms and administrative settings at district and state levels. The next step is to take the administration licensure exam in the fall of 2024 and apply for state endorsement in K-12 leadership.
Certificate in Diversity and Inclusion
Cornell University (2021)
In 2021, I completed a professional development certificate in diversity and inclusion through Cornell University's eCornell. The curriculum was designed by professors from the School of Industrial and Labor Relations and delivered by a course facilitator who did an excellent job remaining connected to students. Learning about organizational cultures, climates, and best practices was an eye-opening experience. The course was delivered over three months and consisted of four modules:
- Fostering an Inclusive Climate
- Improving Engagement
- Counteracting Unconscious Bias
- Diversity and Inclusion at Work
Each module included video presentations, readings, discussions, and video check-ins with the course facilitator. The course was dynamic, collaborative, and engaging, and it significantly enhanced my understanding of inclusive leadership and performance management in organizational work cultures. Each module highlighted the importance of cultivating tolerance, respect, and inclusiveness in all work cultures. I gained the understanding and sensitivity necessary for fostering psychological safety and a sense of belonging in diverse workgroups. I acquired the proficiency to identify and address unconscious biases and microaggressions in the workplace and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in the work culture.
